CA Intermediate syllabus: Group 1 & Group 2
Six papers across two groups under the new ICAI syllabus. Our coaching focuses on understanding the logic behind each subject, not rote learning, so answers come naturally in the exam.
Group 1
Advanced Accounting
Builds on CA Foundation Accounts: amalgamations, branch accounting, hire purchase, investment accounts, and company final accounts. Precision and speed both matter here.
Corporate and Other Laws
Companies Act 2013, LLP Act, and allied business laws. Taught with a practical understanding of why the law exists, so application questions become straightforward.
Taxation: Income Tax & GST
Income Tax Law and Goods and Services Tax combined in one paper. Both require conceptual clarity and regular practice. One of the highest-scoring papers when taught right.
Group 2
Cost and Management Accounting
Costing methods, marginal costing, standard costing, budgeting, and management accounting concepts. A paper many students find difficult. We make the logic clear from first principles.
Auditing and Ethics
Audit procedures, internal controls, company audit, and professional ethics. A conceptual paper that rewards students who understand the purpose of each auditing standard.
Financial Management & Strategic Management
Financial Management covers capital structure, working capital, and valuation. Strategic Management is conceptual. Both can be scored well with organised preparation.
Minimum 40% in each paper and 50% aggregate per group required to clear. Both groups must be cleared to proceed to CA Final.
How we coach CA Intermediate students in Bengaluru
CA Intermediate is where many students struggle. The subjects are harder, the syllabus is wider, and many coaching institutes push through the material without checking whether students have understood it. We work differently.
- Subject-specialist CA faculty: each paper is taught by a CA who has depth in that subject, not a generalist teacher.
- Heavy papers demystified: Costing, Taxation, Advanced Accounts, and Audit are broken into logical frameworks so the logic clicks, not just the formula.
- Small batch sizes: no question goes unanswered, no student falls behind without the teacher noticing.
- Answer-writing discipline: presentation matters in CA exams. We build the habit of structured, examiner-friendly answers from early in the batch.
- Regular chapter tests and mocks: frequent evaluation means no surprises on exam day.
- Continuity from Foundation: students who joined us for Foundation continue with the same faculty team for Intermediate.

CA Intermediate: frequently asked questions
There are two routes: the Foundation Route (students who have cleared CA Foundation) and the Direct Entry Route (graduates or post-graduates with 55% marks in Commerce or 60% in other streams). Both routes lead to CA Intermediate under the new ICAI syllabus.
CA Intermediate is divided into two groups. Group 1 covers Advanced Accounting, Corporate and Other Laws, and Taxation (Income Tax + GST). Group 2 covers Cost and Management Accounting, Auditing and Ethics, and Financial Management and Strategic Management. Students can appear in one group at a time or both together.
CA Intermediate exams are held three times a year: January, May, and September. Superrad Academy batches are timed to begin at least 8 months before each exam date to ensure adequate preparation time.
Yes, you can appear in both groups together. However, many students choose to take one group at a time so they can focus better on fewer subjects. Our mentors can help you decide the right approach based on your schedule and background.
Group 1 coaching runs for approximately 4.5 months and Group 2 for approximately 4 months, with 5–6 classes per week. The timeline may vary depending on how close the exam date is when you join.
Students must score at least 40% in each paper and 50% in aggregate across the papers of a group to clear that group. Both groups must be cleared (though not necessarily in the same attempt) to proceed to CA Final.
Talk to a mentor before you decide
Unsure which group to start with, or whether direct entry applies to you? A Superrad mentor will walk you through your specific situation. No obligation to enrol.
